The Fictional Guy of the Week: Richard Castle

The fiction guy of the week is (if you read the title of the post then you can probably guess)... Richard Castle!!!!


Location: ABC's Castle

His Story:

Richard Castle started writing crime novels in college where he gained fame and fortune for his work. He's best known, in the fiction world, for his character Derrick Storm. He's been married twice and divorced twice. He lives in New York City with his teenage daughter and his mother, the actress.

When we are first introduced to Richard Castle, he's just killed off his famous character Derrick Storm and suffers from writer's block. When several murders in New York mimic the murders in several of Richard Castle's novels, he's pulled in by the police and questioned. That's when we meet the inspiration for Castle's newest character, Detective Kate Beckett.

After helping Detective Beckett solve the case, Castle gets permission to shadow her for research. Little does she know that he's researching her. And three years later, we're waiting in hopeful anticipation for the next level of his "research".  Ha ha. So basically what I'm trying to say is that Castle falls for Beckett, becomes her quirky and funny partner, and keeps helping her solve crimes.

"Have you ever been in love with someone but they keep pushing you away?" (Or something similar to this quote from Pretty Dead [3x23])

Why He's FGW:

Pretty much, at this very moment, I am in love with Richard Castle. Of course, I could be riding on the fumes of an awesome third season finale. Castle was all hot and intense and serious. Woo baby!!

ANYWAY, what makes Castle so awesome is... well... many things. He's funny and smart. He isn't afraid to help the NYPD solve crimes. What I mean is that he's not afraid to get his hands "dirty" and work hard. He's in the thick of it all with the other cops wearing his 'WRITER' vest.

Plus, Castle (a.k.a. Nathan Fillion) is an attractive man. What's even better is that he's not the "normal" Hollywood attractive. He's more of a normal attractive or as "he" likes to say "He really is ruggedly handsome". He's isn't perfectly attractive. He has flaws. But that's totally okay. Castle's character can get away with it because his personality is so magnetic and charming.

I like that Castle has stuck around so long with Beckett. He could have taken some notes and then called it good. Instead he's been her constant companion. Her annoying sidekick. Her savior in times of trial. He's been the one to keep her grounded in a life that includes laughter. He's been her Castle. (I know... that sounds so corny but I like it!)

P.S. Nathan Fillion is one of those guys who just gets better with age... in my opinion anyway.

The Fictional Guy of the Week: Slater Evans

I've decided to try something different and fun, at least for me. I'm going to dedicate one post a week to a fictional guy of my choosing. This is definitely shows how much of a hopeless romantic I am but I need something to do this summer. So with out further ado, I introduce you to The Fictional Guy of the Week.

The Fictional Guy of the Week is...  Slater Evans.

Location:

Weathered Too Young by Marcia Lynn McClure

His Story:

Slater left home when he was fourteen and did a little ranch handing. He later became a U.S. Marshall until he retired and came back home to run his own ranch with his younger brother Tom. He's thirty, unmarried, and totally oblivious to how attractive he really is. He's flirty and funny (and slightly scandalous in some of his comments) when he puts his mind to it, which is why the heroine of the story can't seem to resist him.

Why He's FGW:

I picked Slater Evans because I think he's one of the those guys that is not only attractive but also secretly kind and giving. He has this way of making you think that he doesn't care but then he contradicts himself by being affectionate and kind. Plus the man is not afraid of hard work. That's always an attractive trait. Oh oh! And he can totally kick the bad guy's trash! He's all buff and a good fighter. He fights for what is his (including the heroine).

I guess I picked him because he makes me giggle and smile whenever I read about him. He says scandalous things (but not too scandalous) and he flirts even when the heroine thinks he's 'indifferent'. Hmm, maybe that's what it boils down too? Maybe what is so great about Slater Evans is that he is hot and older but he still finds someone as average as the heroine and he likes her. He's good at flirting and kissing and yet he is a complete gentleman.

What makes Slater Evans The Fictional Guy of the Week is how awesome he is. How incredibly funny and flirty he is and how much he stands up for the weaker man. He cares about those he loves and he protects them will all his might. Slater Evan is the epitome of a nearly perfect man.

Thank goodness he's fictional. I don't think us regular girls could handle a real man like Slater Evans. Oh. Man.
