The Fictional Guy of the Week: Han Solo

And the Fictional Guy of the Week is.... HAN SOLO!!!

Location: Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi

His Story:

Han Solo is a smuggler. But the Empire isn't supposed to know that. Han Solo is a bad boy. But he's not really bad; he just has a tendency to walk on the dark side. He mingles with shady people (like Jabba the Hut). Despite the fact that he has a selfish air about him, as we see more of him, Han Solo really does care. It's not all about money.

We don't know much of his private life besides his smuggling. We don't know about his family, where he is from, where he grew up, how he met his first mate, Chewbacca. All we really know is that once Han Solo gets involved with Luke Skywalker, his life heads in a very different direction. Next thing he knows, he's fighting for the rebellion and risking his neck for a snotty (well she's not super grateful, ya know) princess.

HAN SOLO: You like me because I'm a scoundrel. There aren't enough scoundrels in your life.
PRINCESS LEIA: I happen to like nice men.
HAN SOLO: I'm a nice man.
PRINCESS LEIA: No, you're not. You're...
[kiss]

Why He's FGW:

I picked Han Solo for this week's Fictional Guy of the Week because... well I love him. He's the perfect combination of cockiness, confidence, and self preservation. Yet he has the ability, whether by his choice or not, to change, to help his new found friends, the rebellion.

Han Solo knows how to work. He knows how to wield tools as works on his ship, the Millennium Falcon. He knows how to shoot a gun. He knows how to escape the Empire. He knows how to charm the pants off of the princess and win her over.

Basically, he's an awesome scoundrel!! We all need a man who acts like a scoundrel but is really a nice and good hearted man. At least that's what I think. Pretty much, I just wanted to share one of my favorite fictional guys that I've loved since I was a little girl. He's one of the biggest reasons I watch the original Star Wars trilogy.

Han Solo is... awesome!

Here's something to feast your eyes on...

Until Next Time,

The Hopeless Romantic
